German smokers
These wood turned, hand crafted 'smokers' are very fine collectibles, created by German craftsmen and are of the highest quality. The first smoker was developed in the mid-1800s near Heidelberg, Germany. Today, the mountainous Erzgebirge region of eastern Germany is host to many skilled German craftsmen who create these wonderfully detailed characters in their workshops. Traditional designs include figures engaged in everyday life and occupations. Each smoker opens at the middle where a fragrant incense cone is burned. The smoke comes out of the mouth of the figure who is smoking a pipe or sometimes a cigar, and fills the air with a nice fragrance. So fun! These highly collectible German smoker figurines can be displayed year 'round, or seasonally.
