This is a great vintage metal appetizer pastry mold french frying kitchen tool that has never been used for cooking. It is complete with its original box and advertising pamphlet that includes recipes and instructions. This vintage appetizer or hors d'oeuvres french frying pastry mold tool comes in two super clean mint parts. The handle features a red wood grip and it attaches to the center of the frying mold which has eight shapes: a star, pie wedge, square cracker, heart, fish, bell, butterfly and rosette. When assembled the tool measures about 12 inches wide. The circular mold measures about 6 inches. The technique was to dip the mold into batter, then deep fry in hot oil to make appetizer cups or timbales. The cover of the box shows some great 1950s vintage litho graphics of the product in red and black inks. The box measures 6 inches by 10 inches and is also in great condition, near mint with only an occasional light kitchen smudge. The box has some classic 1950s verbiage:
On the front of the box:
- 8 in 1 Hostess Mold er Ett For French Frying Appetizers, Desserts and Hors D'Oeuvres, Serving for all occasions Indoor and Outdoors
On the sides of the box:
- For Your Playtime Snacks and Buffets
- Makes Tempting Appetizers and Tid Bits
And the front of the pamphlet reads:
- Modern housewives want Handi Hostess Kits
We love this great vintage kitchenware find! You rarely see a complete set that is in such wonderful, as-new condition. Often the frying handle is missing, and certainly the instructional pamphlet is almost always absent. What a great addition to any antique or vintage kitchen collection!
