1800s Antique Primitive Wood Bowl, Large Out Of Round with Original Patina, 13 3/8 x 12 7/8
Fantastic authentic primitive wooden chopping bowl hand turned from one piece in original dry patina. This was an early Oregon homesteader's wood bowl put to good use!
This is a wonderful antique primitive wood bowl; you can't help imagining all of the meals that were prepared with this old bowl. Purchased in Oregon's Willamette Valley near Salem, this sweet antique is likely from the 1860s-1890s when the area was being settled with migrating homesteaders after the Homestead Act of 1862. The bowl being significantly out of round attests to its age. It measures a large 13 3/8 inches by 12 7/8 inches and stands 4 inches tall. It weighs just under 3 pounds and has an awesome turned grain pattern, patina and signs of many, many years of service.
It is similar to an antique dough bowl, but this one has obviously been used as a chopping, cutting, and mixing bowl over the years. It is hand-turned with a flat bottom. It retains so much character including staining, lots of chopping/cut marks and plenty of wear to the base. This fantastic primitive bowl has definitely been well used and well loved.
This authentic regional Oregon antique homesteader's hand turned primitive wood out of round bowl is fabulous. We are proud to offer it in our store! #KITsw 0187
