Vintage 1940s U.S. Zone Germany Circus Elephant and Zebra Wind Up Tin Litho Toy- RARE!
Authentic post WWII era working and moving tin toy. Colorful balls spin over the elephant's head propelling the tricycle forward as the zebra pulls the chariot tricycle. Amazing condition and so hard to find; you just never see this particular tin elephant toy!
All we can say is 'WOW' with this one. What an incredible vintage 1940s German US Zone tin litho wind-up circus toy, so unique and so much fun! The condition is fabulous with vibrant litho graphics, and it's a delight to see this working toy go. The seated elephant chariot driver balances three groups of stacked balls over his head. The key winds up perfectly and sets these colorful balls spinning in motion which propels the toy as the zebra pulls the three wheeled chariot forward. The elephant holds on to thick red reins made of string which are attached to the zebra. The chariot features two black rubber tires on the back and a red tin wheel in the front. It is brightly decorated and the paint is in very good shape. The elephant is highly detailed and wears a fanciful circus costume. The zebra also shows fine detail complete with gold harness and tall pointed ears. The front feet sit off of the ground slightly.
This fine vintage German tin toy measures 9 inches wide and is 8.5 inches tall. U.S. Zone and Germany marks are found on the elephant's feet. It is in excellent working condition showing just minor wear and a bit of dust.
We can't say enough about this wonderful authentic vintage 1940s German US Zone post World War II circus elephant and zebra pulling chariot tin litho wind up toy. We are proud to offer it in our online vintage toy store and know it will become a favorite of your collection!
