1980s Vintage Chinese Porcelain Vase, Large Vintage Chinoiserie Hand Painted Ceramic Koi Fish & Flower Vase, Asian Feng Shui Decor
Striking large vintage Chinoiserie vase featuring two graceful symbolic koi fish flowing around the form, among lovely lotus flowers with a nice stamped design repeating in the background. Mint condition!
This is a classic vintage Asian Oriental hand painted porcelain ceramic vase, circa 1980s. It is full of traditional symbolic imagery and the quality is very fine.
The concept of auspicious elements attracting happiness and luck is found in many common Chinese symbols. The carp or Koi is an ancient symbol of good fortune that brings happiness and abundance. It is represented in the yin yang symbol that depicts two carps in a flowing tear drop shape. The two shown here are so striking, with their brilliant color and linear design elements. Please view the zoom photos to appreciate the fine details such as the large luminous eyes, and flowing body shapes with detailed scale patterns. The beautiful lotus flower is synonymous with harmony and peace. The circular, hand stamped background design simulates the water element so beautifully with its repeating design. What skill to apply this pattern correctly!
This fine vintage Chinoiserie fish and flower ceramic vase measures 12 inches tall and is 9 inches wide with a 2.75 inch mouth and 5 inch base. It is in mint condition with no wear, chips, cracks, or restorations. It appears to have never been used as a floral vase, as the inside is completely clean and free of marks or water stains. There is a small bit of dust inside. The bottom is signed, "ST" in a circle, with Chinese characters and also, "Made in China".
This is a lovely and hard to find vintage hand painted Chinoiserie porcelain lotus koi vase. It will make a striking statement in any room, and is perfect as a strong feng shui placement decor vase. Happiness, abundance, harmony, peace . . . what else is there?!
