Gorgeous early antique German wire wrapped mercury glass ornament, featuring a RARE silk puff handle on the long tube stem! Circa 1920s.

This lovely large mercury glass parasol umbrella ornament is gorgeous, painted a bright green lacquer with a gold tint that sparkles and shines. It is still tightly wrapped with crinkly wire all around the form and also along the slender neck. It is finished with a silver tinsel loop at the end. Attached is a pink cotton cord with a soft silk puff, acting as a handle for this fine Victorian ornament. Hard to find these fancy extra adornments!

It measures 8 inches from the tip to the handle end. It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. The end point of the parasol is intact, showing the tiny ball of glass where the blower ended. Wow! The silvering and green paint is still bold and strong, with a bit of loss on the handle. It is simply beautiful, making a striking statement on the tree. Our photos show all sides and details.
