Wonderful very early antique German mercury glass frog ornament in superb condition!

This pre-1946 figural glass ornament features realistic molded details the Germans are known for, and is so nice in this large size measuring 4 inches wide. The glass is very thin and fine, typical of this early era of ornament making, where each ornament was individually blown by mouth into a highly detailed mold.

It is hand painted with washes of green across the head and back, with a bright magenta-red mouth and black dot eyes. The pike makes up the tail. It is in excellent antique condition, free of chips or cracks, and the silvering is still very strong. The pike is intact and topped with its original metal cap and Lauscha style hanging loop. There is a bit of minor age related paint loss.

This large antique glass frog ornament will make a nice addition to any figural ornament collection or display, a special gift for the Christmas collector!
