Hard to find 1940s wartime Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments, featuring classic Christmas colors with fine grain mica stripes!

This is a wonderful pair of WW II unsilvered Shiny Brite glass barrel ornaments in excellent vintage condition. They feature one of the harder to find barrel or lantern shapes, with graduating tiers, a fat center, and lobed bottom. One is painted red on the top and bottom lobe. The clear wide center features bands of white and turquoise mica that is super fine, which is quite rare. (Usually mica of this era is quite grainy.) The second ornament is painted green with a rare pink mica center band. Both are finished with the classic metal ribbed cap and loop which reads, "Shiny Brite Made in U.S.A."

They measure 2.5 inches tall to the top of the cap, and are in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Both have the fine mica flaking off, and a bit of oxidation to the caps. Our photos show both sides of these fabulous ornaments. These hard to find vintage Shiny Brites are a great value combined as a set of two!

SIDE NOTE: Metallic mercury glass ornaments get their shine from being coated on their interior with a silver nitrate solution. In 1941, WWII wartime shortages restricted this material, and ornaments during this time frame were produced without silvering. Since unsilvered ornaments were less popular than the shiny mercury glass, they are harder to find and thus more collectible.
