1940s Vintage Shiny Brite Christmas Ornament Unsilvered Bell War Era, Vintage Shiny Brite Mica Stripe Bell Ornament, Unsilvered Wartime Ornaments, Bell Ornaments
Hard to find 1940s wartime Shiny Brite Christmas ornament, featuring a lovely clear glass bell with white mica and a thick green band, accented with rare pink mica stripes. Wow!
This is a wonderful WW II unsilvered Shiny Brite small bell ornament. It features a nice lobed bottom to mimic a bell clapper. The colors are still so crisp and bright, the mica mostly intact and strong. It is finished with the classic metal ribbed cap and loop which reads, "Shiny Brite Made in U.S.A."
It measures 2 inches tall to the top of the cap, and is in excellent vintage condition, with just a small bit of mica flaking. Our photos show both sides of this beautiful ornament. Pink mica is a bit rare and indicates this 1940s era. This is a fabulous Shiny Brite ornament!
SIDE NOTE: Metallic mercury glass ornaments get their shine from being coated on their interior with a silver nitrate solution. In 1941, WWII wartime shortages restricted this material, and ornaments during this time frame were produced without silvering. Since unsilvered ornaments were less popular than the shiny mercury glass, they are harder to find and thus more collectible.
