Brutalist Art Pottery Vase Bamboo Form, Mid Century Stoneware Japanese Studio Pottery, MCM Ceramics, Signed 1967
Incredible mid century modern brutalist studio pottery vase, an unusual bamboo form, signed and dated 1967.
This is a handsome and heavy Japanese stoneware vase, hand built in the brutalist style with a rough surface and uneven edges. It is shaped like a bamboo rib, with a dark band in the center over a speckled tan glaze. There is simple hand glazed white drip decoration on both sides. It measures 6.25 inches tall by 6 inches wide, and 4.75 inches in depth. It is quite heavy for its size weighing just under 3 pounds. It is signed on the bottom, "N Tada 4 '67". This fabulous MCM ceramic vase is in mint condition and it appears to have been used only for display.
This is an extraordinary and striking signed stoneware vase, a strong statement for home or office. Fantastic brutalist studio art pottery!
