1980s Vintage Bavarian German Hat Pin, Oktoberfest Alpine Hiking Hat Pin, Tyrolean Hat Brooch Pin, Chiemsee Garmisch
Really fun pair of mid century plastic German souvenir hat pins, Chiemsee and Garmisch.
Plastic souvenir pins became popular in the 1970s, being much less expensive to produce than the earlier cast metal and sterling silver pins. They are still nicely molded with exceptional detail, and are skillfully hand painted with colorful enamels. These two pins are a matching style, with a banner set in a flower meadow with pine trees. The cow features Chiemsee, and the deer fawn Garmisch.
Chiemsee is a large freshwater lake in Bavaria. Garmisch is a popular ski village in the German alps near Austria. Both pins measure 1.25 inches wide and feature a secure pin back. They are in excellent vintage condition, the paint intact and still vibrant. You can see some paint drippings on the back side edges which add some nice character!
Add this wonderful vintage pair to your Oktoberfest pin collection, makes a thoughtful gift!
