SALE . . . 25% OFF! Very fine and very old antique Katakuchi tea or sake bowl, hand painted in the Kutani style and signed twice in kanji!
This is a wonderful, hard to find tea ceremony pouring bowl pitcher featuring a classic pagoda temple design framed in a landscape scene of flowing hills and trees. Fine details include raised Kutani decoration and gilt accents. The rim is also lined in gold. The bowl is oval, culminating in a nice pour spout. It fits nicely in the hand and holds 2 ounces. It measures 4 inches by 2.25 inches at the widest points, and stands about 1.75 inches tall. The footed base has a 1.25 inch diameter. It is signed twice in kanji, once on the side in iron red and also on the bottom in black. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is minimum gilt wear on the rim and a bit of age related crazing.
This is an excellent antique Japanese katakuchi tea bowl, hard to find with two artist signatures. Wonderful to use or display!
